Nanjing Road
I wish you could see more clearly
that this miles long sidewalk is packed with people up and down .
While taking this picture on a bridge over the street I was among many Chinese who were also amazed at the sight.
Just a few years ago, China had shortages of even the most basic goods.
Now China and Shanghai, in particular, are under-going massive changes.
It is being prepared to be the "new Hong Kong" as the shopping center of China.
Every consumer good is available along the Nan Jing Road downtown area.
As many people reminded us, most come to look but not to buy.
But the numbers of people means that only a fraction of the
people have to buy anything for a shop to remain in business.
